I offer freelance writing services for one reason and that is to help a company expand on their content marketing strategies.
In an age where getting the message to the customer has completely changed, content has become one of the primary sources of the message.
Content fuels the online fire
Content is the vehicle, the very fuel that fuels the online fire. Content powers the engine of your online strategies. There is a greater need for content now than ever before.
“Content is fire. Social media is gasoline.” Jay Baer
Jay goes on to say:
“Without content, your entire social media program devolves into a litany of self-promotional back pats. And guess what? If every company in the world has a special offer in social media (and they will), yours probably isn’t that special.”
Millennials are ditching ads
Millennials are ditching ads. They are the ones who have “cut the cords,” watching Netflix, Hulu and consuming content in different forms. They put on blinders when it comes to advertising, therefore, a different bridge to this generation, along with many of the others, is needed.
“Marketers are smartly investing in content to reach millennials whenever and wherever they may be, via their preferred channel and with messaging that resonates.” Entrepreneur
We are, sometimes, not as trusting as we once were. This is true, not only of the millennials but of many others as well.
Just because a brand tells us their product is the best, we just don’t always believe them.
Trust is earned over time when we deliver on value.
You earn that trust by producing relevant and quality content over a period of time and sharing with consumers. After you have built that relationship with the consumer, they will trust you enough to handle their needs.
When we are looking for answers to our most pressing questions, we seek out the experts. For example, over the years, Seth Godin has established himself as an authority in marketing. He produced relevant content, proved he knew what he was saying, and now has a tribe who listens to everything he says.
The same is true for Michael Hyatt, Chris Brogan and many more.
